The goal for WaveHouse was not only to create a sense of luxury but, more importantly, to capture a feeling of comfort rooted in the surf culture—a total disconnect from the city and a full immersion in the beauty of El Salvador’s coastline.
For us, this immersion meant creating a seamless, continuous experience that extends beyond the beach; after you finish a walk at the beach, end a surf session, or after soaking up the sun. We wanted to bring that sense of wholeness and tranquility inside the apartments, ensuring that whether you’re seeking relaxation, peace of mind, or just comfort, that feeling stays with you, adding a sense of limitless harmony between the natural surrounding and the interior spaces.
We were asked to design, curate, and supervise manufacturing of a furniture collection that represented the WaveHouse brand’s DNA and the surfing spirit. The collection designed by the studio is composed of more than 20 different pieces which include chairs, tables, benches, lighting fixtures, beds, and others. All of them were prototyped before going to production.
We collaborated closely with various artisans and small manufacturers to achieve the desired outcome. The project was a success, meeting design goals, client expectations, and enhancing the end-user experience. It was crucial for the end-user to recognize that everything we designed was also crafted locally.
